[FR] “Parfois les pèlerins, quand ils veillent dans l’église de la Sainte Vierge de Montserrat, veulent chanter et danser, mais alors ils ne doivent entonner que des chansons décentes et pieuses”. C’est ainsi qu’une main anonyme introduit les quelques pages de musique que contient le célèbre manuscrit médiéval de l’abbaye de Montserrat. Dans cette reconstitution que propose l’ensemble Millenarium, les pèlerins (Choeur de chambre de Namur) sont accueillis par les moines (Psallentes) et les enfants de choeur (Les Pastoureaux) de l’abbaye. Leurs chants se mélangent au son des instruments qui les entraînent dans la danse.

[ENG] “Sometimes the pilgrims who were holding vigil in the church of the Holy Virgin of Montserrat wanted to sing and dance, but they were only allowed to sing respectable and pious songs”. Such is the introduction provided by an anonymous hand on the several pages of music contained within the famous mediaeval manuscript in the Abbey of Montserrat. In this realisation by the Millenarium ensemble, the pilgrims (the Namur Chamber Choir) are greeted by the monks (Psallentes) and the choirboys (Les Pastoureaux) of the Abbey. Their songs blend with the sounds of the various instruments that lead them into the dance.
